Kewl Katz

maybe i haven't posted in a week because i don't want to stop posting about Sports Camps. maybe i never ever will and i'll just be like Ms. Havisham reliving the same days over and over in my mind.
or not, cause that'd be sad.
but to be real i'll prolly reference sports camps for a long ol' time.
deal. wif. et.

by the way i forgot to post this picture when i was talking about the weekend!
I used to draw my dreams when i was younger.

i had a dream that a girl who shall remain nameless was the dragon from Shrek, and she was playing rugby for Derek's hand in marriage. but Derek was definitely maid Marian from Disney's Robin Hood.

so i painted it.

my group 7/28/14 - 7/31/14 was awesome. no, no, they were kewl.
and because i call everyone 'dawg', they thought it's be funny to call themselves cats. but i refused. they said, "what if it's spelled k-a-t-z"
"....okay"

that week i had volleyball girls. they ROCKED! they had practice in the evening after dinner, which provided some well received counselor clusters.

I ruv philly.
we actually got to be roomies! but more about that in a tick.

my girlies and i walkin' to the dance!

haymitch:

Thomas, literally grooving too hard for the camera to capture.

Tuesday afternoon, we were waiting for our kids to come out of practice, and me and phil were singing Mr.Big at the top of our lungs. this kid came up and joined us. we were impressed. so when we bumped into him at the dance, i took a picture.
naturally.

"what?! me and _____? no way. we're not together. there's nothing."
my camera says yousa is lying to me:

post-dance camper goodbyes outside the dorm lobby doors at curfew. gag.

I don't know WHY this made me laugh for a solid 2 minutes, but it definitely did. probably because it's just SO FLIPPING TRUE.

DEAR MOTHERS, DON'T BE THAT MOM. K, THANKS.

one GAAAA-REAT thing about that week was dear ol' philly.
we got to be roommates.
she's from Manchester(ish), Great Britain. she was technically Derek's friend first but i stole her.

and our room was right next door to Rachel HArdy Har Har's. so Obviously, we had the week of our lives.

I also stumbled upon these gems:

so cute.

pictured below?
our nemesis, EFY. kidding. i loved EFY. we just joke about them being our enemy because they wear polo shirts and curl their hair everyday.
we go to breakfast with PJs and morning breath.

Wednesday morning i woke up smiling. and i bounded down the hall waking up my girls with the chant, "SIX! PEAKS! DAY! SIX! PEAKS! DAY!"

Wednesday as we came out of lunch, Phillipa and I saw our friend Harrison struggling with his bike, so went over to help. we probably only bothered him, but he was a good sport.
dear future husband, if you could have hair as curly and adorable as Harrison's, that'd be great. thanks.

turns out, some knuckle-head had locked their bike to his through his break lines, and he had to completely take apart his handle bars. the whole time, we made up a story to tell the person who did this. "Harrison was late to his volunteer position at the abandoned puppy shelter" "Harrison heard on the radio that someone kidnapped a bus full of orphans on their way to disneyland, so he ran out to the bike rack so he could pedal to save the children, BUT HE COULDN'T. BECAUSE OF YOU, YA DINGUS."

finally, he got everything untangled and rode off into the sunset with his dreamy hair.

phil and i went back to our dorm, where i tried to remember everything we said, and wrote it down in a letter to the owner of the cursed light blue bike.

and then we taped it to the bike, just for good measure.

just about then, it was time to pick up our girls and go to SIX! PEAKS!

but i got some bad news.
"Seven Peaks is closed due to an 'impending storm'"

i literally wanted to cry.

and telling my girls was the worst. they were all super disappointed. I should have taken Dylan's approach,

"Hey Guys! I have GREAT NEWS!"
"Really?! What's Up?!"
"SEVEN PEAKS IS CLOSED!!!! WAHOOOO!!!!"
"..."
"BUT! no worries! because you get something EVEN BETTER!"
(He's talking to 17 year olds)
"Derek and Rachel rented a toooon....oooooffff..........BOUNCE HOUSES!!"
*earthquaking groan from youths*

i was weak.

all my girls were mad except one, who had forgotten her bathing suit anyway.

can we please admire this BLUE SKY in the background?
the weather for the rest of the day was lit.er.a.lly. gorgeous and perfect peaks weather.
ugh.

WHATEVER, SEVEN PEAKS. WE GOT SHAVED ICE AND WATCHED NETFLIX INSTEAD AND IT WAS AWESOME.

CLEAR BLUE SKIES, FOLKS.

so, like i said, we just hung out all night. for 5 hours, no big deal. and the night ended with me pitching fruit snacks out my two story window to Dylan.
so, it ended well.

Thursday morning was bittersweet, as always. i loved these chikas.

at lunch, we sat next to this cup of juice with kosher salt filling the bottom. i whipped my camera out because it was so gross and as Derek mocked in a sing song voice, "i wanna remumber this furever!"
true words, brother.

And people kept asking me if the next week was my last.
"yup. I'm here til the end of the line"
and it kept right on making me gloomy.
i've grown to love this place.

 I never wanted to leave.

most spontaneous trip of my life

So Sunday evening i bought a ticket to Nauvoo, Illinois.

When i heard about it a month ago in my Book of Mormon class with Curtis, i thought, "i can't afford that". Then Sunday as my roommate Jaylene was signing up, i was happy for her, but really jealous. And sunday evening i remembered a forgotten check from a local scholarship that was $500. and the Nauvoo trip is only 375. so i called my mom to see if it was okay, and bought my ticket.

All my teachers are very strict, so i was a little worried about telling them last minute. miracles happen though, let me tell ya. Prof. Peterson just got really excited and told me a bunch of stories about nauvoo for twenty minutes and then said, "oh, did you have a class right now?" ha. luckily i didn't today. Then he told me I could just do the online prep work and he would count me as present. My children's lit teacher was upset, because i'm missing a group presentation but she said i could videotape myself. hallelujah.

So i have honestly a mountain of homework to do before Wednesday at 5:00 when i leave Idaho, but I am STOKED, you guys.
I've never been any farther east than Delta, Colorado so this is definitely going to be an adventure. We're going to visit Independence, MO; Liberty Jail; the Kansas City Area temple! the Far West temple site, Carthiage Jail, then Nauvoo, including the temple! Then we get to walk on the trail of tears to the Mississippi River; Winter Quarters, Martin's cove and Independence Rock.

So no yeah I'm going to have a blast.

Also, tonight we're climbing "R Mountain" for Family Home Evening and then having another Ultimate Frisbee tournament and two friends are having a mission call opening. And tomorrow is Madison's rec volleyball team's second game. i made signs for all the players. hard core fan, guys.

So really, this week is going to be incredible. It's like a huge long Birthday celebration, which is great.

Oh yeah and I got Windows 8 for free today as a little present from BYU-Idaho cause we're best friends with Microsoft. yeah. hook ups.

just all kinds of happys goin around. blessings blessings blessings!

Co-ed Rec volleyball

A year ago today I got asked to prom. and my date used my brother to ask me. ask you can see from the picture...it was awkward and Derek wanted no part of it. hahahaha
and for good reason.

Then we had the drama showcase and after THAT
we ran over to the Madera South vs. Madera High volleyball playoff game. we won. kicked their butts actually. and that was the last time i cheered for a volleyball team until today!

exactly one year later. Wednesday and everything!
My roommate Madison has a co-ed rec volleyball team with a bunch of fun people from our ward so we went to cheer them on! It was awesome.

Thank goodness for rec games, I was losing my mind.

Prom Date

remember when i went to winter formal and you met my date, Ernesto?
welp.
I'm going to prom so... meet Jay!

he's a cool guy. he's got skills. you know, skills! bow staff skills, sports skills, computer hacking skills..lame Napoleon dynamite reference...yeah.

we're buds.
we weren't really friends until this school year even though we've known each other since like sixth grade. He's gangsta and i'm a drama geek.
and then he became a drama geek and we became kind of friends.
and then Seussical started and we became friends

and then we became scene partners and good friends and now we're going to prom?

on el martes, right before our Drama showcase (which went swimmingly, by the way) he made Marissa lead me on a wild goose chase back to the drama room where he was hiding like a dang sneaky snake

He's an elf
so i said no...and everyone got quiet and his face was priceless. but then i said i was kidding.
and i started giggling because i was put on the spot and then i started rambling because i was nervous...

and then Derek popped out of nowhere? with a giant neon pink sign that says, "oh, you're nasty!". so. apparently he approves...but not enough to hold a sign that says so...HA!

 it got awkward...

so he left to the playoff volleyball game with Dad [(against our rivals, Madera High) (at home) (which we won!!!) the most intense game I've been to in a loooong time.] while mom, Jon and Jen came and watched my drama showcase. even though i told them not to. ha.
We did great, and the senior song was awesome.
It could have been cooler if we wore our graduation gowns, but some 'directors' are snotty and selfish. so, yeah. it wasn't as cool as it could have been. but it was dang cool anyway!
And then I ran off to the Volleyball game for the fifth (and best) game. sigh. I'm going to miss wearing purple almost everyday...and i'm going to miss losing my voice at the games...and annoying the other team's fans.
good season, boys!
good YEAR, stallions!

BTW, prom is this saturday sooo you should be expecting a fully detailed post some time next week! I'm really excited because earlier on in the year i had basically decided not to go, but jay asking me forced me to go haha. But i'm glad!! because it's my last chance to really hang out with everyone and just be silly and have TONS of fun. I'm amped to go with all my friends, and i don't care at all how 'high school' that sounded! I will be as cheesy as humanly possible for the next few weeks until it's allllll over.

Prom. green dress. I shall look like a dang mermaid. Gold bow tie. we're gonna look smokin' if i do say so myself...AND we're eating at a restaurant that i'm SURE serves at least one of my five food groups:
hamburgers
hot dogs
pizza
Ice cream
red Dye #40

hate on it.
SO excited!

Documenting - volleyball

I decided that since i have one month left of high school, i'm literally going to document everything. EVERYthing. that way i don't forget anything.
because i love it so dang much.
so! the documentation began may first. at 7:00 because a month later on June first at 7:00 i'll be graduating! woot!
i know you won't enjoy photos of my crazy friends as much as i do, but here you go anyway:

Exhibit A) Senior night volleyball game for Travis.
Brandon and Jason were being weird, naturally. and Brandon decided to be a dang sneaky snake and kidnap my child fanny pack

Brandon dang alien Paul and Jace face, you are my best friends because of the following pictures. I love that we're cool enough to pose awkwardly on the court. in front of everyone. I love you.
 obviously we're models.

and obviously, Brandon and Jason are also kung fu yoga masters:

And as always, the night ended with a ridiculously loud and crazy dance party on the way home with Hot Chelle Rae, Demi Lovato, Micheal Jackson and T-rey-izzle.

Congratulations Trav! you made it! you had an amazing senior night with a great team of which you are a great captain. 6. carryin the banner, bro!
